Life is Art, Art is Life
Mr. O hit a wall drawing his life-size self-portrait in class. He thought he’d failed completely, when he’d only been approaching it the wrong way. Later that week, he tried drawing a friend’s baby from a photo bit by bit when he came home from work each day. It took him a several weeks but he did a beautiful drawing. Then he realized something important – that he didn’t like to draw under time pressure. He liked to draw very small, detailed pictures instead of large drawings. We often fail because we just aren’t doing it the way that works for us.
